Checksum Failed

So, I reinstalled Outerra. This time, I installed it on a partition of my D-drive (C is almost full), and placed the terrain data folder on the same partition.

The app starts fine, until you get far enough that it has to start loading more areas. Every download of new terrain data fails (red text) with a "checksum failed" error. Every single one. The world does not load beyond the starting area, the airfield in the Himalayas.

My guess is that it either cannot write/rename the downloaded data files in the data folder because of UAC or privileges, or an antivirus is snatching the update file and blocking it, or that there's something corrupting your downloaded data, since it was the same with the patches.

Please include the new eng.log (from the new data location) from a session where it attempts to download the data.

Can you check the X:/Outerra Terrain Data/data/earth/-x/0-0-0.0.wad file and tell its size and modification date?

The file has 13,621,772 bytes. There seems to be a problem with your network. Are you using a proxy server?

Wish I knew what that was. I'm just some guy on an admin account (the only one), I have no "network" I'm aware of, and I don't know what you mean by "using a proxy server". I just boot the application and this stuff happens.

Sorry I'm not more tech-savvy. I'm using anything special I'm aware of.

I do own Tor browser, but it shouldn't do anything when it's not running, right?

Try checking control panel, internet options, connections tab, LAN settings: uncheck "Automatically detect settings" if checked. Proxy server is also shown there, if any.

Okay, I unchecked "Automatically detect settings". There were no proxies.

Okay, it helped for a while. I could travel around for a good 10 minutes and places would load correctly (albeit very slowly). Then I get one checksum error.
Then two.
Three.
Until nothing worked again.

I logged out in a completely unloaded area. Then quit the app, and rebooted it. I was where I left off, only now the whole place was loaded in correctly.

Can you try downloading http://planet.anteworld.com/planetdata/earth/+x/0-0-0.0.wad file via browser, how fast it goes? Btw where are you located?
