Screen tearing in stereoscopic modes
« on: May 26, 2014, 11:14:41 am »

I mostly explore OT world in stereoscopic mode( sbs with asus vg278h/hdmi), which I think adds a whole dimension to the experience.
But both with side-by-side or top-bottom mode I get quite a lot screen tearing (image wobbling) no matter what settings of v- sync I choose ( ingame or NV control panel). No combination seem to work although in 2d it's ok.
I noticed this too in all previous builds with stereoscopic options.
I swapped my trusty 560ti with a770/4gb with no improvements.

That's odd, I mean that it's not present in 2D, because stereo mode is just a normal display mode with two embedded pictures, generated from the same camera at once (interleaved rendering).

It's definitely not my setup, what's causing this. Other apps are working perfectly.
Cameni, you should be able to see it by your own if you switch to SBS /TB and rotate (make a circle with your mouse) your mouse look.

EDIT: I found tearing most pronounced in 3d when toggling "full refresh", while its full stable in 2d.
Half refresh is better tearing wise but gives bad stutters and performance.

Would it be possible to implement pageflipping stereoscopic mode? That would be awesome for my dlp projector at 120hz :)
