The politics of flight sim communities

I'm not into it...I've done my time at Warbirds, Targetware and Flightgear and dived right in, took the brickbats on the chin, frankly it does my head in and at 50 I'm too old for this sh t.

We're right at the start here, a fantastic Outerra modding community can evolve and I don't know if I could take seeing overtime this community become competitive, self serving and cliche, with groups working against other groups.

Now a vehicle takes a lot of work.... many disciplines 3d, 2d, animation, control systems, flight model.... add to that a combat element of damage for those doing combat mods. There's also the terrain moding, adding objects, buildings, bridges, roads, rail, shipping etc the list is endless.

Now some people love it, but it's slow working having to learn blender, photoshop, javascript, jsbsim xml.

But the offer I want to make here is that I'll do flight models for 2 years (and then review) I've a few planes.... DR1, Camel, Spitfire, potez25 and a glider... now non of them are where I want to be (heavy bombers) but they are a means to an end, a learning curve. I've the 3d and flight models for all but I've gota get them into Outerra.... I'd real not have to battle through all the disciplines to get them in when I could be working on YOUR flight model.

So do you guys want to be a jack of all trades, master of non or specialise in your chosen subject ?

I'll be more than happy to join this adventure. I have some experience with Blender, Autodesk 3Ds Max, Cinema 4D, AutoCAD...etc. I could prepare the models for scripting and/or make some visual improvements if necessary.
And of course, I could import them into Outerra, and configure all the necessary files.

And about JavaScript, I'm not sure if my little experience can help too much... Maybe for animations?

That's a great looking model!

So, I took a quick look at it, and it seem that all 3D animated parts are separate files, but thank God there's a .xml file that tells me where each part is placed/orientated in 3D space, so I don't have to manually guess the exact location and orientation for each.

Also, I will need to re-position and re-orient all the pivots for animated parts, and re-do the smoothing groups as well.

Do you need the model to be prepared very soon? I ask you that because I would like to release the A380 first, it's almost ready for it's first release :)

Hi Simon (bomber)!

Here are some screens of the ASK-13 almost finished (static model only). I just have to set the correct position/orientation of the pivots for some parts to be able to properly animate them, and we're ready to go! :D

You just concentrate on the flight dynamics, and I take care of the rest. Is that OK?
In that case, it would be nice to have the FDM's you already got for this glider, in order to start doing the animations.

Also, do you plan to make this beautiful glider available for the rest of the users/community? If so, should I create a new topic with this plane/glider?

But, that FDM gets me those NaN errors, don't you have one that actually works, without the errors? Simpler but working if it's possible, otherwise I'll simply create a basic one using Aeromatic. :P

Does that FDM works for you, or it's just me?

Thanks! Also, what engine/prop files are you using? the original ones that comes with the plane, or you've made a custom ones?

I agree with OP. On a side note, it wouldn't hurt to see a small airport aswell. Nice to see you guys working together to bring more aircrafts to outerra ! Best of luck guys !
