"Elevation_over_terrain_failed"
« on: November 03, 2014, 11:01:53 pm »

Hi!!!
I was enjoying a low level flight trough a canyon:

pos_x = -337730.34,
pos_y = -6090611.4,
pos_z = 1863811.86,
rot_x = .859527,
rot_y = .02126,
rot_z = .474088,
rot_w = .189745

Suddenly I crash with nothing!

Next attempt, near the same point, same thing happens and got this message:

Elevation_over_terrain_faied

Elevation_over_terrain Invalid param (NaN)

To replicate, head into the canyon entrance at low altitud... Few seconds ahead... crash!!! (some times).

And here:

pos_x = -1391094.7,
pos_y = -4939183.2,
pos_z = 3791543.77,
rot_x = .855256,
rot_y = -.265899,
rot_z = -.404262,
rot_w = .185494

a big crack in the mesh.

In the first two attempts I was on the  AH-64.

1.- It was like hitting where there is nothing (AH-64).

2.- Same like one, but I got the message. (AH-64)

3.- After it I tried the combat jet; I received no message, but it was like hitting where there is nothing, and I got a strong impulse in the upper direction. I mean really strong, like being 50 ft over the ground, and a split second after, being 500 ft above.

I swear it was just one beer, officer.  :)

NOTE:   The second post is just about the mesh crack. No flying issues.

Re: "Elevation_over_terrain_failed" and/or Push up

Any idea on this?

This occurs frequently in some locations (in this case Colorado Canyon). When I'm flying at low level, a receive a vertical impulse, which varies in intensity. When flying a plane, can push up me several tens  meters (even hundreds).

For this video (free camera) a have record three small chunks, until it happened (watch for a sudden small jump in the middle of the video):

I fixed a possibly related bug a few days ago, basically queries to elevation data could sometimes execute earlier than the elevation data are valid. I suspect there may be more erroneous cases in there.
