Huge Meshes! Chapala Lake in Outerra.
« on: November 22, 2014, 04:32:23 am »

I thought one flat mesh (2 triangles) and a couple of textures would do the work... Was wrong!

This is a huge Chapala Lake (México) 3D mesh. This lake is about 80 x 18 Kms.

Wait... Did you just find a way to make manually lakes with a single model? This is pure gold...

I don't really understand your first sentence ("I thought one flat mesh (2 triangles) and a couple of textures would do the work... Was wrong!") because it's absolutely beautiful...

Reminds me that we need lakes 'n rivers urgently.
KW71, is your mesh with animated surface ?
A little problematic seem to be the borders. And oh well, the trees. ;D

Really nice outcome for an alternative solution !

Hi!

Because this is not just a pair of triangles.  ;)

KW71, is your mesh with animated surface ?
Wish to know how to do it in OT!; the "sparks" you see on the water are a common situation (related to normal maps, resolution, movement, etc... I can't explain exactly what it is), that in this case became in our favor.

I was trying to do the opposite!  ;D
Look at the 6th picture; I was trying to mimic this behavior:

And now, the million dollar question :

Do you plan to share the model in a near future?

Because if you do so, I believe there will be a bunch of people here (me first) ready to pay you a beer :)

A beer and a bunch of peanuts will do the trick  ;)

Yes, I plan share it, but first I need to make a few adjustments (this weekend, if I have time).

I'm glad you like it.

This mod is not usable, only aesthetic, and very beautiful, but not practical,, I think is not the right direction for outerra.
just as studies or mod, okay.

"I think is not the right direction for outerra."

Agree! It would be near impossible to fill OT this way. I just for fun in the meantime.
