It uses a special low-light camera to capture light effect on the dark side. Various weak effects show up in there. In Outerra the night side is dark, so there wouldn't be much to see yet :)

Damn, those polar flares are beautifull from up there ... will be a little bit problem to simulate those whyte sunflares in the far future : /
