SketchUp help
« on: December 20, 2014, 12:40:14 pm »

I wanted a palm,,,,, the requested but not found.
so I followed the tutorial Outerra Model Library (youtube:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfVfcXnXFpY  and I've got something .. but not quality, and I have many errors ... to see if I can help.
1) I enter this website.
https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search.html?q=palms&backendClass=entity
2) downloaded a palm
3rd) I open the sketcUp pro2014 / exported 3D model (fbx)
4th) then I open outerra / ctrl + F7 and I package.
the problem is that the model is too small soon as I add outerra or loses all calidad.o just gives me error.
values should I change for good models?

Material settings:

- "alpha masked"doesn't work, so...
- You'll need use "tex opacity", with a opacity texture assigned.

See this, so you can study the opacity behavior:

http://forum.outerra.com/index.php?topic=3035.msg32232#msg32232

- Albedo (diffuse) textures doesn't seem to be assigned in the material. The extension must be included in the name:

"tex_albedo" : "bla,bla,bla"           = WRONG
"tex_albedo" : "bla,bla,bla.DDS"  = RIGHT

If you just want the palm, upload the .otx and I guess I can fix it for you.

If you want to upload toons of models, you'll have to read this first:

Do you see the texture file in your palm folder in outerra?

If not then you need to find the original texture file, convert to dds and move manually into your palm folder in outerra.

You will then have to make an opacity mask (black) leaving the silhouette of the trunk and leave white, save as dds then add the name next to the opacity line in .mtl file

Then Set color to 1.0,1.0,1.0,.999 (.999 is for tranparency, it need to be below 1.0 to get a very slight transparency for the opacity map to show in game.

As for the size of the model, in sketchup in the fbx export menu, clic options. There i usually select 'cm' as the unit, but you can try others and see.
