As i said in another thread, i was wondering what the implications of a player created world are.
By that i mean being given the tools/vehicles etc etc to do certain things like mine, build and research and then nothing more, but being pushed out into the world at a safe location with the means to start fending for yourself.
Take a military sim (yes my favoured of scenarios) like ArmA, its mission editor is basically just that, a method of creating a mission and playing it, in this idea other players are the content, and you can eithre work with them if you form an alliance or hunt other bases down hopefully amoung many other activities. (perhaps civilian safe areas for civilian parts of simulation like flying a cessna etc, and military areas where combat is able)
The scale of Outerra is then a useful guard, as say on the military side of things your base is easier to track when your mineing, like using the radio homeing cameni mentioned and your radio signiature is "noisier", but before you start mineing yourself meantime you can be integrating with other communitys and being employed by them to do certain tasks and earn credits and perhaps experience in areas youd like to specialise.
Id hope it would be aimed at the simulator level of play, forinstance with aircraft like the EA-6B Prowler as an example, an electronic warfare plane that could be a player paid to fly in a certain area masking the radar/radio signal of the base, while fighter planes run patrols and ground forces do similar, everyone in a sim environment having fun just using the vehicles for what they are rather than what they can do, just like why simulator players will take a 747 on a flight to another airport just for the fun, this is like that but with actual functionality to boot.
Using the proposed and very exciting idea-
different companies will be able to provide specialized simulator cores for particular vehicles or scenery plugins and other types of addons, on a unified platform.
Would be the method of having a quality of content for each vehicle with its level of content and integration.
For starting off without having to buy a giant server farm, the idea cameni also had of a persons PC being the server host should another player venture close enough to be drawn in, is another good idea as long as there wasnt a way they could hack and know when someone was close to them from their PC's traffic.
I hope this isnt my ArmA Online idea in disguise? :/
If anything i hope its a way of showing both a civilian gameplay working with a military one?
