effect sound settings ?

Which types of sounds does the "effects" sound settings affect ?  I'd like to reduce the volume of thunders compared to the other environment sound such as wave sounds or birds sounds as it seems exaggeratedly loud. Is it possible ?

I think only tracer explosion registers as an "effect" sound class.

OK thank you very much. In any case is solved the weak "open-sea-wave" sound issue by editing the corresponding file with audacity. Similarly I will probably edit the thunder sound files reducing somewhat their volume...just to avoid get thrown of from my chair when a bolt strikes very near to my position !  8)
