MINECRAFT....Outerra style??

...just curious.  I was thinking how fun it would be to make Mario or something on top of Mt. Everest and then take screen-shots of it.

There are tons of problems to make a Minecraft-style game on top of Outerra, for example the spherical world vs. the regular grid - the whole Minecraft is based on the simplification, and I don't see a way out of it.

Nevertheless, I plan something to the tune, for marketing purposes ;)

The thing is practically possible, but that would be something with a taste of Minecraft instead of just a spherical clone. Am I right?

That was the very first idea I had regarding Outerra.

There lie some problems, but there are also ways around. Some games already did that - for example Wurm Online (the game that Notch, Minecraft's creator used to work on)

Yea, a taste of Minecraft. Or Dwarf Fortress.

We are thinking about being able to design stuff using a procedural generator first, making a wireframe representation and then off you go to get the resources to build it.
