Google Sketchup + MaxWell Renderer = Awesome
« on: January 24, 2012, 12:51:18 am »

I can't wait until "the crazies" come into OT and use sketckup to model scenes in this detail and render them in Outerra. Pretty sure Collada models can be made from sketchup possibly with a conversion.

Sketchup models rendered in an engine called Maxwell.

So you put all these elements in your scene, press render and done?

What part of compositing is this image?

Thx!

From my experience Sketchup is a bad program because it likes to create unessacery polys when modelling so be careful before using it in-game or at least refine it in an other program.

But it looks amazing in a render for sure. nice work.

The background in both pictures is obviously a photo, otherwise it's all 3D.

There are tons of them. But not all of them are Sketchup Based but they all use the maxwell renderer. http://www.maxwellrender.com/index.php/gallery/images/architecture

I know it I'm graphist  :)

What i want to know is the process of your image.
Do you create buldings ? In which software, Sketch up?
How do you create the entire scene? All in SU and press render? etc
I know there is compositing (background etc) i want to know what's the part of SU+Maxwell in your image.

Thx

I think you will find that sketchup models are just zipped COLLADA. I am told you can just take the extension as zip, unzip it and rename that *.cda and your done.
