Space vehicles
« on: February 03, 2012, 12:25:14 pm »

Hello
I'm not sure how useful these would be in Outerra, but since everyone posts vehicles here, I figured I'd do the same.

I have more, but these are the best so far.

Yeah, I modeled all of these myself.  I'm very interested in putting them into something, like outerra.  I just hope that the process of making vehicles is easy.

That is incredibly awesome...
Now go and design some similar hi-tech weapons to match...

I'm sure at some point you will be able to use these in Outerra. Although at this stage I'm not familiar with either modding process or tool chain (as these details not released yet to my knowledge). If you have a browse round the forums there is lots of discussion about similar things (types of models used etc etc). AFAIK it should be doable though.

I have already doodled down some weapons. Just have to model them.

Here is a random one I made in a few minutes:

I hope it is easy. I know Sketchup supports exporting in essentially every file format known to man, so it should be okay. I can crank models out like nobody's business, so if its easy to then make them /work/, I'll be home free.

Also, I really hope weapons are supported. Space combat, anyone? =D

Nicely done.

The first one definitely has potential for the game.  The others may be a bit too futuristic.

Thanks!

Ironically the first one is my favorite, and I've already modeled out the entire interior and everything.. lol
I'll upload that later.

Nice ITman. I sent him here when he said he was modeling from pure boredom. Think these are too sleek for what I picture in Outerra. Something a bit more utilitarian and less stylized would be better.

I'm sure I can make something less sleek.  I'll try later.

Actually, since the backstory establishes that we're at the end of the 21st century, the first style wouldn't be bad at all as a "found" technology sitting in a hangar somewhere at a ruined military base, rediscovered 500-5000 years later.

rediscovered 500-5000 years later.

I can see you have narrowed down the storyline to a precise timeline... .  .   .    .

lol.  I've been in discussions with Cameni about it, and doing more research on how quickly humanity's civilization will deteriorate to the point in-game.  5000 years (my original estimate) is stretching it quite a bit, so it's probably going to be on the order of 500 - 1000 years at most.

As long as space ships work, I'm happy! lol

All of these use VTOL style takeoff.. so I'll have to detail out that system.
