Thanks, I'll test it this way to see where the problem might be.

The errors are because the dev version doesn't contain all of the buildings from the old version yet.

3 more files will be coming, each roughly 2GB in size. The tiling scheme can be visible here:

This is actually my desktop background picture :)

Cameni, do these files differ from the original 11.8GB dataset that I would have downloaded back in April (ish)? Or, are there corrections in the elevation data? Will I need to download these 3 files?

No, these were only repackaged for easier download.

Don't bother with the torrent, download from the direct links.

With the downloaded files, do i extract them into a directory called data?  The reason I ask is, I don't have a data folder so I made one and it looks like this:

E:\Anteworld\data\+x\
E:\Anteworld\data\+y\
E:\Anteworld\data\+z\
E:\Anteworld\data\-x\
E:\Anteworld\data\-z\

These go into the data directory, not in the program directory. If you used default paths, the data dir is in c:\users\username\outerra, or else data.cfg in the program directory points to your data directory.
You will find your existing data subfolder there.

Thanks, it now reads

C:\Users\xxxxxx\Outerra\data\+x
C:\Users\xxxxxx\Outerra\data\+y
C:\Users\xxxxxx\Outerra\data\+z

etc...

But I just noticed there is an earth folder with these very directories in.  Are they meant to go in there instead?

Hi, I'm new here and accidently downloaded the torrent. It's actually still in progress and the speed is quite good but was there another reason you said to download from the direct links and am I downloading useless files by using the torrent?

It's fine when it works for you, the data are the same - it's just that there are usually only a few seeders on the torrent.

Thank you. The speed dropped a bit but I'll just leave the torrent running and try to seed whenever I can once it's finished.

Well, I for one am glad the torrent is still up. That Google hosting service is rubbish. It won't work in Firefox for some reason, but when I try to use Chrome, the download craps out at the end. Left it to download one of the files overnight, only to find a "download failed" notice waiting for me in the morning. Babysat the damned thing from afternoon to midnight, only to see it "fail" literally at the last second.

If that were in Firefox, I would have a "retry download" button that'd just pick up the download where it left off, but since the damned Google website doesn't work in Firefox, I had to use the browser that $#%^ing auto-deletes "failed" downloads forcing me to start from scratch.
