285.62 WHQL did not fix the problem. In fact it crashed my computer upon exiting the game, so screw that. Going back to the 285.79. As for the black box, just like the shadows, it disappears when I am facing away from the sun, and as I am facing towards the sun it appears again.
On 250GTS with 295.73 we tested - everything is working well.
No crashes, propeller alright.

I'm going to test 9800 card.

Some have reported driver crashes. Got two such reports from 285 cards, and one from 260, I think ... but it may be another issue as well, because it crashed with other drives as well.

I am now on the 295.73 drivers and I still have the black box issue, but everything else seems to be fine (except the things I have previously stated). I did not crash. But then again it was only a 5 minute test.

Seems the black box shows only on certain models - 9800GT has it too.

Well I am glad you found it. Hopefully we can see and end to this small pesky problem.

On a side note, are you planning on implementing reflection of landscape into the water?

A similar type of effect can be seen if you place the ISS space station on land, raise it about 50-100m in air and go look at the shadows on the ground, notice the wires are also casting a shadow but is wavy and moves as you move. If you look at the shadows somehow casting on the ISS itself from these wires you see similar effect.

Difficult to show in a screenshot so I might make a few small videos of the bugs seen so developers can see it in action as I see it. I also have Nvidia 560 TI so I think there is a good chance many bugs will be semi-legit, whereas ATI cards seem to naturally have these random issues.

No need to .. it's a limitation of the current shadowing technique, with correlation to long polygons.
