It's a nice video of realistic cessna ride with take off and landing.

You're lucky that it didn't stutter, you have a warning half way in the video. Also the video is limited to 720p, did you set it up that way?  When i send mine, youtube makes versions up to 1440p though there's no noticable difference between 1080p and 1440p.

Yes I set it up that way. It's part of my anti-stutter testing.  ;D

One of the things we've been assuming about stutter is that our HD's were not fast enough, but another possibility is a memory issue (which can cause visible stutter while flying in X-plane) and I was testing that by reducing the resolution a bit while recording.

Essentially I'm throwing things at the wall to see what will stick.

And I think the warning was mostly about a missing scenery object.

Your  approach seems to work well so far. On my side, i 'm getting a usb3 stick (sandisk extreme 64gig) It supposetly the fastest stick to write. We'll see if its fast enough.

Let us know how it goes!

And by the way, looking more closely, you're right, it was also a video buffer warning.  :P

Next time I recommend some dramatic music. Propellers for 10 minutes is not the best way to invite viewers!

Apparently it is!  :o

You guys posted it on your facebook site, and the thing is taking off. When I saw I was approaching 2000 views, I blinked, and went "What the hell? From who?!"  :o

Its apparently getting linked and re-linked. Lottsa airplane guys out there. Another intersting thing from YouTube analytics is that not a single one of those people was a woman.........  :-*

As a 3D designer and animator I wonder if there are any pdfs on how which format to export to, are there any plugins/scripts for 3ds max?

Just like taking them to the mountains - 2500m height, beautifull landscape wiew ...

... and then " Naaaah ... im here ... and what ? "   ::) ... you wont get an OT interested woman until ponyes and cuddle-fluffs roam the plains all around. And thats not a climbers kind of a view. ;D

I tested the sandisk extreme 64gig usb3 stick and it's not fast enough, not even close. I dont know the throughput these video recording demands... So now i'm using dimmdrive, a ramdisk program. I set it to 20-24 gig so i can make a max 8 min video.

Throughput for FullHD (uncompressed) is 1920x1080xYUV420 = 1920*1080*1.5*30 = 93,312,000 B/s. LZ4 frame compression usually halves it to around 50 MBps

Typical hard disks have an average write speeds of 80-110 MBps in tests, but that's when nothing interrupts it.
Modern SSD disks have around 400 MBps sustained write speeds.
Sandisk Extreme 64GB usb3 seems to be around 100 MBps, not bad for a stick, but it's only on the hard disk level.

Looking at the numbers, apparently Windows caching is limiting the reachable throughput. I thought I would have to implement additional compression there, but now I see that just switching to raw disk access could help too ...
