I see...Anyway keep developing!
Also did outerra run on OpenGL 3.3 from the begining? If not I hope you have that install somewhere.

When we started it ran on OpenGL 1.2 (veery early, super ugly version, no data for it). There never was a 3.1 version though, we went directly to 3.3, there's a lot of stuff added.

Besides, those 3.1 drivers aren't really fully conforming, it probably would not run on those even if we had such a version.

Technically, Intel has 3.3 drivers for 3000 chipset http://www.geeks3d.com/20120501/intel-hd-graphics-driver-v2712-for-sandy-and-ivy-bridge-processors/

That's wrong, Sandy Bridge/HD3000 only supports OpenGL 3.1. For OpenGL 3.3 or 4.0 support HD2500/HD4000 is required.

Darn! So there is no chance of OpenGL 3.3 on HD3000?

Pretty sure no chance. Intel itself only mentions OpenGL 3.1, every tool reports it. Maybe there is some hardware limitation in Sandy Bridge. Here is a good overview: http://downloadmirror.intel.com/22083/eng/releasenotes_gfx_2875-64.pdf

And to be honest, the HD3000 would be too slow for Outerra. Even the HD4000 might be too slow.

It's a bug in ATI drivers that prevents successful compilation of shaders. There's been workaround for that bug in the development version, please download here.

Knowing how Outerra develops and having faith in the producers I believe you are wrong  ;)

It's not really a matter of faith; we aren't magicians :)

I thought it went without words: Intel graphics is no great performer, and all existing benchmarks and comparison apply to Outerra as well. The engine tries to use more effective techniques to better utilize the hardware, but still - a global world with large visibility demands a lot. Might work with considerably reduced quality settings, but it won't be anywhere fast even on the 4000.

Oh still on my other PC Outerra runs better than most of the other games (COD Black Ops, some Simulators
and some others) while these run maxed out in my HD 3000 laptop!

Outerra almost completely depends on the GPU, whereas most other games/sims also greatly depend on the CPU, and you have to balance the CPU power for them to be able to utilize the GPU in turn (though it's true that many games can't utilize the GPU properly as well).

With Outerra it's simpler, but the GPU has to be good. I wonder myself how Intel graphics is going to perform once there are usable drivers, hopefully they will surprise me pleasantly :)

At least it should be fixed sooner or later. Intels future generations Haswell GT3 or Broadwell GT4 might be able to perform good enough. Ok I just checked the demo mode with my GTX560 and received 250 fps in low details 720p. There is some hope it could run on a HD4000.
