HDR bloom effect

A few experiments with the HDR bloom effect. It is WIP version so please be kind.
There is a temporal aliasing which can be very annoying in some cases. I hope i will be able to remove it later with a different filter method. Bloom effect will be available in the next update but you will have to enable it explicitly...

Looks amazing. I'm a great fan of HDR effects! It would be nice to have some HDR effects on the vehicles also (on the metal surfaces).

Looks superb! Agreed with Bartolomeus, bloom from sun reflections would be cool too

The bloom is everywhere where the pixel intensity is above 1.0 (the threshold will be configurable), including specular reflections...

This is fucking awesome. I remember to talk with you guys about the socalled 'postprocessing effects' (normal mapping, SSAO, lens flares), and amongst them this one, to which you seem reluctant at that time to add to the engine. Now I am very *glared* that you decided to add this effect, it definitely sum entire points to the visual aspect of the engine.

Dont get too carried away. I hate the foggy look when the environment doesn't call for it. Looks great.

Yeah, I was gonna say... Don't overdo it like so many game devs do now...

The update rate or the effect?

In most games these days the exposure from the bloom is well above what one would see in real life. Currently, form the screenshot the bloom is more than subtle but less than over exaggerated. A nice in between. Looking forward to environment mapping and an improved water shader.

Well it's the first thing I turn down in every game, or rather turn off completely if that's the only option.
Fortunately no distributor or marketing strategist is dictating us about the effects, so we can make it subtle. And to put a cap on it, so that no one could even make screens with overblown values. I should put it into the terms
