The classic Back to the Future Delorean made driveable in the Outerra engine. :)

Been playing about with the importer and cooked this up. There's no steering wheel or animated dials as I don't understand the scripting system enough to implement them (I can't even understand HTML let alone Visual Basic!). Can get a little unstable when going over rough ground at high speed but I'm sure this will improve once other car physics elements are implemented into the engine. You'll need the development version of Outerra.
Just move the Delorean3 folder from the RAR into your packages\outerra directory which can be found where you installed your development version of Outerra. In the latest version of the development version of the sim, the car can be spawned by going to the vehicle spawn menu. Alternatively, you can spawn it from the buildings menu. Once spawned, close all menus, go to the car, hit enter and then hit space bar to start the engine. If the model looks dark, set the time to mid day and the month to around July (Summer time)
Unfortunately, I couldn't recapture the sound of the V8 used in Back to the Future so I used a generic car engine sound from "The Getaway" (Playstation 2).
Model originally from Travellers Tales Back to the Future game. Ini was modified from GIUcams better physics ini for the BMW M3 to reflect the DeLoreans engine performance.

Maybe if the scripting system in Outerra gets powerful enough, maybe one day the time travelling computer can be simulated along with the time travelling effects. ;)
I'll keep the source for this to one side so future improvements in the sim can be integrated into the model over the course of time.

.... nice ....
Does it warp through dimensions yet?
When particle effects are implemented it needs to make fire trails. Might need some reflection tweaks. Maybe angrypig can pop in and work out how to properly adjust for brush brushed stainless steel. http://deloreanowners.org/image/IMG_2533.JPG (http://deloreanowners.org/image/IMG_2533.JPG)

A picture of the flux capacitor would have been cool too!

Good work, seems like outerras' most anticipatet feature is finally implemented.

Can not download. Add a new file sharing please.

Hey guys, new here. I just purchased this game and am seriously the biggest BTTF fan. REALLY would appreciate if this was reuploaded please guys.
Thanks in advanced.

here here.. A re-up would be grand.

Hello all
Could you try downloading again please. Rapidshare basically made a change months ago that I missed where files that get uploaded have to go in a folder that needs sharing permissions enabled otherwise the download would be denied to other users. I've tested the download by logging out of my premium account and it downloads fine. Thanks

Got it thanks so much!

The link is no longer working again. I'd love to get my hands on this!

Try this link:

Should get a screen which has a white "to download" button. On the next screen, click the Delorean3 rar and then click "download selection"

Would love a re-up of this. Neither link work.

Found a copy of this on a backup hard drive along with the original source files:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/1t1i1j06vfhvg9f/Delorean3.rar
When using it, don't forget to set the date/time to around mid-day of summer otherwise the car will look dark for some reason. (never did figure out why that was happening)
I don't really have time to work on this anymore. If it's any use to anyone, I can upload the source 3dsmax files so it can be made to work better in the more recent versions.

Sir. I love you. I will be adding this to the Outerra Model Library and editing a bit myself. I would love the source files!

Source Max files were originally made in 3DS Max 8. IIRC, I originally decompiled the model from a port that was made in Garrys Mod a couple of years ago so the original SMD files are also there if anyone wants to try and re-incorporate elements like the steering wheel ect. I think I've also found the original Collada DAE files that I imported into Outerra so I've also included those if needed.

I must not understand how to install this, because i extracted it to users/outerra/packages, and the delorean doesn't appear in outerra when i start it.

Edited the objdef file and exported the package.
