Stuttering Ramdisk Recording
« on: January 22, 2013, 09:34:00 am »

Hello Again  ::)

I just recorded a short test clip (1280x720) to a Ramdisk but the video looks very stuttering.
My PC: i7-2600k / 16GB Ram and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Graphic Card. The ingame video is very fluid, i get between 100 - 300 FPS. with MSAA-8X. You can watch the clip here:
Any idea how i could record stuttering free in uncompressed format? I wanna edit the clips later in Magix and convert them with it to .mp4.

Kind regards
Chris

Indeed odd.
Can you try recording the videos with vertical sync (in OT graphics config) set to half or full refresh, instead of the variable rate? The timing is always a bit problematic with variable rate, but it should not be like this.

Currently the recorder tries to pick the best frame to record, measuring the time, and it may show some issues even in the fixed refresh rate. We'll probably have to adapt it specifically in both modes.

Btw for editing you should use conv4edit, puts it in MJPEG that makes larger files but the editing is easier.

OK, thank you. I will try it soon. I'm just busy rendering another video project in After Effects right now.

Wat about this? It always happens if i use the conv.bat. It shows up in a nice alarm red :-D

No idea, I think it appeared with one FFMPEG version, but videos still worked the same so I ignored it ...

OK, i recorded a second test video. 1280x720@75 Fullscreen, Verical sync: Half refresh and without AA. It still looks stuttering. I also tried it with Full refresh and it was the same.

Can you attach your eng.log and time.log from a short recording session?
