Improved object manipulation?
« on: June 07, 2013, 08:34:11 pm »

I'm not sure what sort of plans you have for the user interface and world building tools but I have a fair bit of experience using such things and can suggest many and various things you could implement.

There are a couple of really basic, and hopefully easy to make features that would be really helpful, like; being able to clone an existing object and moving objects along just their x or y axis.

I'd also be a super happy person if you started making the UI more Rift-friendly! I have some suggestions about that too XD

Yea the UI is basic at the moment, needs to be reworked. Actually, since the UI is written in html+js, it can be easily modified, but first we need to prepare a better API for the editing operations. And maybe document them too ;D

Honestly I haven't put any thoughts into Rift-friendly mode yet. Bring it on.

Hmm I know a bit of html and js, maybe I'll break the UI next time I'm bored XD

A great start would be if you could stereo render the cursor! May have to make a totally new UI for Rift users... In my hypothetical, ideal scenario, you also add support for Hydra and/or some kind of hand tracking, and we can do something like this :P

Even though everything Rift is under my jurisdiction, the stereo cursor is waiting somewhere in Angrypig's queue, will be coming when he gets there :)

That UI .. looks interesting, not sure about the usability though.

Using the Rift is like wearing a ski mask. It restricts your vision a bit round the sides, but you are just looking out into the virtual world like you were there. It's really quite a trip :D
