this made me think
« on: November 07, 2013, 05:30:11 pm »

hi all,

i've just read through the last xkcd "what if"'s when i stumbled upon this one: http://what-if.xkcd.com/53/

so it just popped to my mind in how far sea-level adjustments could be done in real-time in OT?
i reckon it is already adjustable via a config (which one could it be?), but in my opinion OT is not just great tech for gaming,
but it might eventually turn out to be a great tool for education too.
in this regard i wonder if such a feature is intended or if it is not feasible to realize with the current render pipeline.
(hm... what is the correct mark to end such a sentence?)

Yes you can adjust sea-level. But the detail under the ocean is only at 1KM points.

Here is RAISING the sea level http://imgur.com/a/2uV1N

hmkay, edited the value in world.cfg, but didn't do anything except inducing bugs in the rendering of the ocean surface... tis probably disabled atm?

I haven't tried it in a LONG while. I am sure it is just "off" for now.
