Try to open it in other tools and exporting them from there.

Make sure it was created with openCollada dae and not any of the other dae exporters.

edit: yeah I just tried importing it to 3dsmax and it doesn't recognise it as a dae file.

Maybe you could try to export as fbx and use the fbx importer in OT (ctrl f7 to open it)

Are you using this plugin to export it?

I think it's just by copying COLLADAMaxNew.dle to the 3dsmax\plugins folder. Then under export you will have a new dae option.

It would be better to export it into FBX and use FBX importer in OT (Ctrl+F7). But if you want to use COLLADA you should use OpenCOLLADA export plugin.

Sometimes importer is no able to find textures during import process. It's better if you have all textures in the folder with your FBX file so the importer can automatically copy and convert them. The second option is to manually copy them to final package folder but you have to convert them manually to DDS with appropriate texture compressed format described in our wiki http://xtrac.outerraworld.com/trac.fcgi/wiki/material. The easiest way is to use NVIDIA texture tools for Adobe Photoshop or cmd line version. These tools produce the best texture quality.

now i have it imported but no textures

Textures have to be in certain format  ... http://xtrac.outerraworld.com/trac.fcgi/wiki/material

... You will need PhotoShop or Gimp whyte the needed export option. Otherwise, check the model file folder in Outerra/Packages/"your username"/ and check the " .mtl " file, if the materials have the files in their parts. (may be it didnt fill the file whyte them) - also, be sure the texture files in those formats are in this package-folder.

... ow, you were faster. :D
