Pink world
« on: October 25, 2016, 04:59:08 pm »

When I saw this program on youtube, I thought I just had to see it for myself. It seems amazing! however I'm not able to get any textures on earth. The earth is just pink, the grass is the right color though and when I fly to the surface once close enough, I get the right textures for only where I am standing, in like a square shape.

I have an Intel HD 4600, and I'm taking it as that's the problem.
however when I start up the game I get an error saying: "Can't open C: /Users/gamer_000/Outerra/data/earth2/_bio/-x/base.desc"

I navigated there only to find that there was no file there that is named "base.desc".
So whats going on here? This is my first time on these forums so sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Thank you.

Hi!

Don't know about Intel. This problem have been related to drivers, for Nvidia & AMD.

Brano mentioned here some problems with Intel GPUs here : http://forum.outerra.com/index.php?topic=705.msg42194#msg42194 , but for this user it was mostly a crash on startup.

Small advice, unless you have a laptop, even a low price GPU card is a better alternative than Intel GPUs. You can run OT correctly in medium settings with a >70-100$ card

Yeah, sadly I've got a laptop. Not sure what I can do with an intergrated GPU.
Like I said though, grass and trees all look fine.

Did you install the latest drivers from Intel?

Yes I have had the lastest drivers, when you mentioned it I decided to check, I only got older drivers listed but I decided to downgrade. When I did this pretty much fixed the problem! Thanks for helping me!

I'm not able to get any textures on earth. The earth is just pink,

Same here.  But that's how I thought it was meant to be.. some sort of alien-like earth planet.
Duh!
