Outerra Unlimited Detail Engine
« on: October 12, 2013, 06:38:55 am »

I am just giving my two sense here but if you haven't heard of "Euclideon Unlimited Detail" I suggest you take a look at it. This stuff is legitimate and I think it would be awesome if Outerra supported something like this and put something like this in their Sandbox Engine. Imagine the potential Outerra could have & before you get off saying that this is a hoax look at this whole video as it proves it's legitimacy

This has been mentioned before.
We can`t confirm Unlimited Detail realy is functional, until we see a playable demo.
Also there is not way Outerra could "support" something like this because UD is not based on polygons.
Making Outerra behave like UD would require a complete re-design of Outerra, to a point that its existance is  would no longer be there.

Please read this thread here http://www.outerra.com/forum/index.php?topic=389.msg12059#msg12059 and accept, that this is unusable for anything. This concept is incompatible with general graphic engines. Here is also a thread about that senseless stuff: http://www.outerra.com/forum/index.php?topic=798.msg9329#msg9329

Here I don't agree, they found usage in Lidar datas viewing and they do have customers in GIS...
look around for news about this techno and visit Unity's forum too...

You said it. Til this point you can just view things. A game where you just can "view" is boring. Also this technique needs tons of data. You cannot use this for world engines. Not on this level outerra is at the moment. So you cant use it for anything (outerra related).

Okay, anything Outerra (or game) related I agree,
however it seems that this tech. might find its way for other apps
