Great! Perhaps there`s no other game supporting this feature...

Thanks

I will keep posting this until I have the money, space and time to make it a reality.

Just as an off the cuff question. Would it be possible to shift the "center" or main viewpoint of the cylinder to a different screen at will. Making my multi-control design complete? (IE walking the screen in front of the keyboard and mouse is main. Get in a vehicle and the cockpit centers around the screen with the wheel and pedals. Same with an aircraft)

You mean setting 0° (or the forward vector) when switching to a different main display dynamically? Yes.

Great.. Now to just buy six 50" televisions and build the rig to hold them and the insane PC to run them all. and buy a place to put it.

I gave the new Catalyst 12.9 betas a try last night to see if there were any improvements with Outerra.  I can get through the log-on process and update without problems but after the update on the final loading of the program I get a Windows error message -

exception msg: OpenGL error: shader compilation failed: matbaked2 last RL: eng::main_loop@eng\eng.cpp(519)

Aren't there more error messages preceding it in the eng.log?

Yes, sorry I should have included it above but here it is.

I have a crash on startup.

i got 64bit windows 7 with a AMD FirePro 4000M graphics card.
I couldn't find my graphics card in the list on the site to download drivers, but it's a new graphics card and a new computer so i don't think they are outdated.

There are several external programs hooked into outerra.exe:

c:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\HP ProtectTools Security Manager\Bin\DpoFeedb.dll (DigitalPersona, Inc., DigitalPersona Pro), version 5.2.0.5092
C:\Program Files\WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\SysWOW64\BtMmHook.dll (Broadcom Corporation., Bluetooth Software), version 6.5.1.2300
c:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\HP ProtectTools Security Manager\Bin\DpoSet.dll (DigitalPersona, Inc., HP ProtectTools Security Manager), version 5.3.0.694

Please try to close these programs and run Outerra again. One of them may be interfering with the decoupled rendering loop.

Thanks for the heads-up cameni, I'll give it a try with the 7970 when I get a chance.

Technically, Intel has 3.3 drivers for 3000 chipset http://www.geeks3d.com/20120501/intel-hd-graphics-driver-v2712-for-sandy-and-ivy-bridge-processors/

In practice these do not work with Outerra at all, too buggy and lots of missing stuff. However, we are working with Intel OpenGL team on resolving the issues in their graphics drivers so that OT can eventually run. But there's a lot of bugs and they are extremely hard to locate and isolate, then report and fix on their side. So I reckon it will take some time before we get there. Currently we can see a featureless earth-ball with orange sky :)

Not sure if the 3000 series will be supported though, there may be some hw limitations (they may be also in 4000, for that matter).
