Yes, a clean uninstall -  and I've just done another one with DDU.  No change at all.  I can't imagine that if it was a Windows update I would be the only one to notice.

I should add that a notification message now says

"Application has been blocked from accessing Graphics Hardware"

This seems to be an issue on a number of games and there are many questions on the net about it, both from AMD and NVIDIA users, but no resolution.  The general advice is to do a clean reinstall of graphics drivers, but I've tried that - several times now.

--------------Update

OK, I feel a little sheepish, but I've got it working - by renaming the Outerra directory in my user area.  Presumably there was something in the cache that was corrupting the program.  I've lost all my building but hey - that's the joy of betas.

A few seconds, it's usually quicker on Nvidia cards.

Check the eng.log, probably stopped on a shader compilation or something there. You may also need to delete eng.cfg and world.cfg, if it's something with the settings.

@cameni,
     Thanks for a beautiful sim world! I am still checking using the cylindrical setting (proj=2) which looks terrific with three monitors - but  I notice that terrain shading changes dramatically with even fairly slow forward movement (that is, when at a fixed position and noticing a terrain shadow that then disappears when I start moving). It looks fine with the flat projection though. Any ideas?

Shadows do not work correctly in cylindrical/spherical projections yet, the reverse projection needs to be implemented there.

A fellow user got an issue with Outerra and I volunteered to ask there. Basically, he can't run it, Outerra tries to update and then crashes with these kind of errors, which you can see on screenshots. He already reinstalled the engine as well as drivers. I also asked for eng.log, but he said that it's not produced. What is the most reliable way to resolve this situation?

You should include a Dxdiag.txt so we can see his system specs

The first error means that he had a newer version once, but is now again back to an older one. That's usually a sign of an overly protective antivirus or a Windows recovery. A clean reinstall with deleting the cfg files should help with that.

Drivers - as it says, usually a corrupt driver installation, and a clean driver reinstall is required. Use DDU.
