We took some measures in the latest version to avoid problems with external programs. The new version uses the same technique other apps use to hook into the rendering loop, but to unhook them
Some apps still get through, but in further versions more of them won't, including Fraps. The problem is most of these apps don't handle newer OpenGL versions correctly, resulting in lots of errors and damaged state. Also the fact that the rendering loop runs in a different thread apparently causes lots of the injected code to crash by itself. Since we were having so many problems here, we decided to remove them forcefully rather than collecting endless crash reports and providing suggestions to people how to avoid it. I'll add a command line switch or a flag into the configuration for people who want to opt out.
There may be other methods how 3rd party programs hook onto outerra.exe, for example the antivirus programs, but those aren't so critical. They are still being listed in eng.log.
