Woohaa!

BIG THANK YOU!!!!
-
Thank you, thank you very much .... an authentic gem ..
It still needs to be configured, I have noticed that when I change from MSAA-8X it gives me shadow when turning, but we will have time to get it ready.
a good job from outerra and her team ... hopefully success will come soon.
-
Now if only my power would stay on (and my computer not die from this).

I'll probably be done before an answer, but I'm probably gonna do a fresh install (not update). (That might be the only option for the 64-bit version anyways? And I should probably do it anyways.)
Should I delete my previous Outerra files - would anything cause a potential conflict? (coming from 32-bit of course.) (I'd like to make sure my graphics settings reset too.)
Would the new Imagery and Tree "resolutions" (tweaking them up) cause performance decrease (on the client), or is that an effect on download size really?
-
YAAAAAAAAS,Finally.
-
nvm solved
-
Praise be to Jeebus!
Clean install for this little black duck.
-
Aw, still can't see the oak in my old front yard with the highest resolution.
But also :'( buildings are still almost nonexistent in my area (or most areas) until I drove through a specific town that had a bunch.
Hartford had a lot more buildings to see, but there's still a lot of empty patches there as well.
I'm getting some very loud audio glitches on occasion, SO YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.
How do I know that the weather is set to Realworld?

The buildings are generic in my part of the world, but you're right, there are a lot of empty patches.
I too have noticed the audio glitches
As for the weather... go outside? :D

This new update REQUIRES an SSD, there is too much data for a mechanical HDD to keep up.
Cameni, I take it railways, bridges and tunnels aren't ready yet?

we have gained something but we have lost something.
I have to look at it better ,, the clouds have to be improved, but the most important thing for me ,, is to always find the sensation of reality, that you are there, and that you can be confused with the environment ,
the trees are amazing .. wonderful

I think it has to do with the different terrain imagery used in earth8.

in environment you need be sure that dynamic weather is set on. It reports global weather from 2018 only

Hi, this is a great release that I'm waiting for since several years. Finally my home city is now completely equipped with buildings. Thanks for this update!
One question: Spawning vehicles via F3 isn't possible for me. If I press F3 I see only this small icon:
Is this a known bug or did I make something wrong?

Seems like a bug but its easily solved. You need to expand it picking the triangle in the right bottom corner. Next time you open outerra pressing F3 it will pop up the right size.

joystick axes cannot be set, nor fly cessna..........

I have no problem with the joystick & cessna ...don't use my cessna mod though ..it needs "repair" to be used with this version ...as do most/all of my mods :'(

Aww thanks. Sometimes the solution is that simple. You can now also spawn an avatar. Was that already with the earth7 version? Then I missed it.
The mercenary doesn't work for me. But the swat and the ybot are okay and I could also use them in vehicles. This release is awesome.

It was that ,,, your cessnafly did not suit me. Thank you
even though I still can't configure the F12 joystick :( :(
-
..The mercenary doesn't work for me either...floating in mid air....but if you open the editor (F7) and grab it you can place it with his feet on the ground..then exiting F7 he will walk "normally"...well walking ...but not nicely =|....or place it where you like..just for some hilarious screenshots ...This is a kidnapping...without guns ! :D

Yeah, I got that shrunken window issue, at least after changing my resolution, as well (1680x1050). I dragged the window from the bottom right corner to expand it.
Also, the Esc Menu (or whatever it was) still remains jagged and ugly, I think even after a restart.
I would also suggest doing or requiring a restart after changing the Imagery / Tree resolution settings as after I changed them I got some "this file doesn't exist" messages on the bottom afterwards, which might be fine (idk?), but do a restart. At least I hope it downloads them and uses them instead of what I just already had loaded.
-
"continues error"
Ar you sure you didn't again pick my cessna ? Its the error I get as well with my cessna...but all four default cessna spawn fine
-
i did a clean install of ot8 only and the cessna generates without problems, but jostick F12 cannot be configured.error F12 ...key mapping does not work
-
Hey ! no trains !....but at least 3D rail elements are there ! (in the editor as handplaceable elements) and also some other of the procedural elements shown in devscreens ..like the well

-
unfortunately outerra crashes very easily when trying to assembly some scenery with default assets in the editor (F7). I sent a crash report.....hmmm seems to depend on my PC specs ...used memory approaching my 8 Gbytes of RAM .... closing all applications besides outerra and using 40 m/20 m imagery/forest data instead of 20 m/10 m helps.
-
outerra with a train in conditions is a joy, in itself that is a great game ..
how do I tunnel? and the bridges ??
-
everything seems there in the editor under assets: ( I will try to figure out how to make a train mod :) )

Am I missing something or is there no VR support in this version? If there is, how do you switch it on? Thanks.
-
This build doesn't have VR enabled yet, we didn't have all the issues fixed in time.
-
Incredible work team!

-
is someone else having problems with the map overlay not working when selected the google layers tab,"this page can't load Google Maps correctly".
-
yes...same here...I guess they're allowed only to incorporate OSM in the engine
-
I hope we can get a satellite image view option on the minimap again, since the Location window has that. (hopefully without it running out of memory or whatever.)
Plus some sort of GPS ROUTING!
Too bad there aren't as many buildings around as I was hoping for. :-[ But my computer hates me already.

I'm surprised this release did not coincide with some sort of demonstration video. There are one or two user made ones out there, but they are not a good advertisement, as the settings and fps seem quite low.
-
This is kind of a pre-release, basically serving as a wider beta-testing, so we can fix crashes and see possible hardware problems. Also checking how our new servers handle the load with the expected number of our (enthusiast) users.
Also, even though there's a couple of things added since the 2019 video, lots of stuff is "just" polishing and fixing of what was there.
-
Congratulations to Cameni and Team
I was waiting for this from long time. I am a daily visitor to see new features, new bugs and creativity of enthusiasts. This is a big update. New city buildings, 3d trees just awesome.
Thank you very much
-
Just bug fixes in the .12718 update?
-
Overall the latest build is really good. Performance is much better. Really like the new Outerra build. It would be really nice if they update sea water and patterns. Good job Outerra team
-
A few thoughts on the new version(mainly on visuals): Congratulations to the devs, this is quite an achievement and performance is also good!
3d trees are a welcome addition and when set to max distance they generate a nice forest. I got the feeling that terrain shading for trees makes the ground a bit too dark up in the air and down between the trees as well.
Overall the trees seem to be too blueish and do not fit so well with the terrain as their 2d predecessors. They also could have some specular highlights to make them more vivid; atm they look a little dull. The shading/ appearance of far distant (2d) trees looks like dull blobs, maybe this is a mipmap problem. The predecessors had a nicer lighting/shading.
MSAA does not work for me.
Water: I like the surf, it's definitely improved but the foam could last longer. The wave patterns are still too regular.
The environmental reflection kicks in only at short distances making water bodies often too bright.
Clouds: have too much bloom power, (depending on time and weather).
Place holder buildings: often too bright and do not look integrated in world. Some are very ugly.
All I want is to see a pretty Outerra! :D

I don't know why can't I open the new version ,It crashed instantly when I open it.

It's a driver crash. Try updating your AMD OpenGL drivers.
-
It's a driver crash. Try updating your AMD OpenGL drivers.
My hardward is kind of old ,the latest drive version was released on 2015, and I have pass the compatibility check before the installing. Also, the previous version 17.1.0.11105 is totally work on the same hardware and graphic drivers. So, is any other possible problem to this issue?
-
New OT version requires a newer OpenGL version (OpenGL 4.2+extensions compared to 3.3 for the old one), and AMD drivers are notoriously buggy there. Even if they claim to support the features that the new build requires, and therefore pass the test in the installer, the drivers often simply crash when the feature is used. That's what seems to be happening here, a crash in the drivers and we have no way of working around that.
Unfortunately, AMD doesn't support the hardware anymore, hence there's no chance for us to support it either; you may only try disabling some features like 3D trees in world.cfg or eng.cfg. We can't even tell what feature is causing it to crash because AMD doesn't even support the driver binaries on their debug server anymore ...
-
I get a crash whenever I exit a vehicle (for exampe default SM11 bus) and then move up in the sky in ufo mode :(
-
We are going through the crash reports and fixing what we can. There's a considerable number of out-of-memory errors though, both for system and GPU memory. Likely not your case here.

I love Outerra. Awesome update. I've been waiting for this step for awhile.
I know you'll get there, but I noticed there is no move, pan or zoom when in the roads and runway editor.
Thank you
-
.12746 was a large patch update. That many bugs or are there new features/functionality?
-
A couple of modified tree models and textures inflated the patch a bit, the fixes were just in the executable.
-
Trees (3d) are still a tad on the dark side. Is it possible to make them lighter like the old ones? Distant (2d) trees are too blue when looking in sun direction and there is noticable color change when going from 2d to 3d (approach).
-
Still working on the trees .. unfortunately the lighting is full of hacks to approximate the surfaces, old billboards were waay simpler in that regard.

But actually improved a lot, according to this post today. no?
https://twitter.com/outerradev/status/1296728389580136448
And damm, which machine you using? which graphic card. You going so fast between that bunch of trees. Or also speed improved?
By the way. New version is great. Thanks!
-
I think Miki currently has a 2070 GPU.
But you don't have to have a super GPU to move fast among the trees, just speed it up with scroll wheel :)

Lol. But yes, my fault. I had a lot of jumps runing between a bunch of trees. I installed a new motherboard and it seems i put two 8 Gb Ram modules in wrong position so only count 8 Gb. I was working with 8 Gb during last weeks. xD
Now with 16 Gb is going good. Just in bunch of trees frames go to 25 Fps or so. But not jumping like before
It would be nice to see frames from diferent cards, like for example this 2070

It's been a while since i looked into the Outerra world. I just came here to see what the Outerra crowd thinks about Microsoft Flight Simulator, and I realized a lot has happened with outerra too! This looks amazing, can't wait to take a spin in VR!
-
Hi, really happy to see this update and excited for the future of Outerra!
However, I can't see those beautiful 3D trees right now because when the game is launched and loaded in, I have got a black screen flickering with some frames of the game here and there. I'm using a RX 5700 XT and have the latest drivers, I've tried uninstalling multiple times and changing hard drives, disabling any program that could interfere but to no avail. Should I post a log or is this a known issue?
Looking forward to an answer because I'd really to spend some time on Outerra!
-
There are some issues with AMD drivers, but nothing like this. Please send your eng.log to support at outerra.com, we'll take a look if there's anything fishy.

Hi! Same problem here, also playing on AMD RX 5700 XT (Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.8.2)
Weird thing: the flickering disappears for a while when I shoot with that laser-thingy. So I'm flying around shooting and shooting .....

Mate.. Impostor Trees now are day and night with previous ones! This is outstanding now.
-
Yeah, even though with 3D trees on and lots trees around, my performance is pretty alright, even though slightly below 30, generally. But any time I'm in an area with more than a few buildings, it tanks my framerate down to almost nothing.
Loud audio glitches can still happen occasionally on 64-bit.
I finally got my Dualshock 4 controller to work for basic functionality with cars / the Tatra, but things like Headlights and Blinkers are still kind of messed up or not working with controller buttons. Can't turn off lights with controller no matter what I change the settings to (including the blank spot in the dropdown). Turning off blinkers on the Tatra isn't working on keyboard either.

I've noticed these things before, especially the blinker issue, It also occurs on my Sumitzu Sidewinder mod.

Is it expected that Outerra alone could take over 8GB RAM with enough long-distance driving (countryside or not), or is that not supposed to happen? (no mods).
I have 16GB of RAM, but these days Windows and my system sometimes takes 6-8GB total before I even run a game, with the next highest process maybe taking 100MB (something apart of Windows, of course).
Then I get Outerra to go over the other 8GB with a long distance drive.
4GB VRAM.
HDD, unfortunately.
Then my framerate tanks and never really recovers. It might raise if I'm standing still, but didn't actually improve because it drops as soon as i move again.
The ground quality setting says it affects GPU, but does it increase RAM usage as well? Lowering it after having it at 1080 didn't lower RAM usage, though I didn't restart, if needed.
I'm using the best data resolutions available, but did not modify any other graphics besides display resolution 1680x1050.
3D Trees & Buildings enabled & shadows, but not modified.
-
Yes it can eat 8GB, mainly with the hi-res datasets enabled. We are still tweaking it, seems the terrain cache size preset may be too big in some cases.
-
Ok, I was wondering if the datasets were ram hogs, but hoping they weren't :(
As for the ground quality, it says the default is 480, but I'm pretty sure it defaults to 600 when installed/reset. Is raising that to 1080 ok with 4GB VRAM and RAM limitations or is it not worth it? Or is that not really an issue of VRAM/RAM?
-
Terrain quality setting affects how much VRAM and RAM is allocated for terrain. There are other parts that consume lots of memory that aren't affected by it, like the tree data or building packages.
We will probably have to run some tests to determine how much memory is needed. I noticed in the crash reports we receive that people are trying to run it on some low end hardware, but current version will crash when the VRAM pool is exhausted ...
-
Hmm.... Has anybody tried wheels yet? Would wheel rotation and pedals bind correctly? (The binding screen is still finicky in the first place (for me).)
(Thrustmaster.)
I don't care if wheel rotation doesn't actually match, just as long as it's usable (Tatra).
-
The buildings that are used for gas stations and toll booths need their collision boxes improved. :))
-
I keep trying to bind my pedals, but they keep more behaving like a toggle, even though it does come up as Axis (and has the half and inverted checkboxes that I don't need, rather than the dropdown).
With the Tatra.
I tried with just one pedal bound and that's mostly basically working like a toggle and shouldn't be.
Then I bind the brake, too and it gets worse.
Is there something funky about how the "Parked" state works? Is it like enabling the hand brake with a delay? Because it's difficult getting out of it while trying to work on this.
And again, even with just the gas pedal bound, it's still behaving like an acceleration toggle. I push and it keeps accelerating even when I let go, and I have to then push it again for it to stop accelerating and coast. Even though it does seem to see it as an axis.
Then adding the brake bind just adds more troubles.

I have the same problem with mapping my gamepad, there is no problem mapping the triggers as an axis for planes but it wont work as throttle and brake for cars.
-
I have no problem with binding my joystick throttle, brake and steering for the tatra. of course the brake acts as toggle here but it works fine. Pressing the "Brake" button more than a second or so will "park" it of course..but that's the same with keyboard, so its normal.

20.0.0.13063 (22 Oct 2020)
- building box LOD correctly lit by moon
- fixed ambient sound quirks
- fixed installation error (dbghelp.dll)
- fixed rendering when tree shadows are disabled
- additional tree species
- input fixes
- tweaked wind animation on trees
-
Huh.... I've only played some while at night, but still haven't actually seen the moon. Wasn't it something that needed to be turned on manually before? idk
There's this one building model with green awnings where the building itself likes to disappear while you're around it, leaving just the green awnings.
(I'm not talking about green gas station / toll roofs.)
What is the building model selection based on? There's some tight cities/villages where the roads are impassable, and I'm not sure if it's due to just poor placement, or if the models are just oversized - with the front steps perhaps also frequently making it tougher. All of the above, maybe.
I also never knew so many garages existed in the world. :)) Kind of jealous of the guy who lived in a shack attached to 5 garages. :P
Though maybe it was an auto repair shop or something, I wasn't gonna bother to go confirm.
-
Hi, thanks for the update. Looks nice when it works.
Unfortunately I've got weird graphics artefacts appearing instead of normal tiles. They seem to be mirroring some existing patches of land. Mostly duplication of road tiles that make no sense or patches of water where there should be none. Always a full quadtratic tile.
They seem to take longer to appear when I dial down the resolution to 1280x800 and set all settings to their lowest. So it seems a problem handling my 4GB VRAM.
I've got a MacBook Pro 2018 Corei9 6 Core 2,8 GHz 32GB RAM 4GB vega20 (mobile version, not the "real" vega20) with windows 10 latest build (not fast ring or something like that)
Any clues? Installer told me my drivers where good enough (AMD Radeon 20.10.36.01)
-
Installer checks only the basic requirements, it's always good to update to the latest drivers.
It seems to be a driver problem. If you are running out of memory, the drivers should be able to swap some with the main memory at the price of some performance. Unfortunately, we have a bad experience with AMD OpenGL drivers and their newer GPUs. Not only the performance isn't as expected, but each architecture has weird bugs of its own ...
-
There's no trees at all in Outerra's Iceland, not even in the spots where there are some IRL. :( Many of the lakes are missing, too. It's got most of the rivers, I believe, though not every single one.
But I highly recommend checking out Route 1 West of Akureyri, Iceland. That entire valley that Route 1 takes is ridiculous! (you might want to set it to a realistic FOV)
I was there on Jan 15, I think around mid-day? (it might snow/rain sometimes, but I got a ridiculously amazing view of the sun coming through a hole in the clouds down the valley)
Unfortunately, I failed at taking what were going to be my best screenshots. Either I accidentally hit Share on my controller, instead of my Steam Screenshot key, out of habit from console, or I actually didn't do anything at the moment I turned the best corner because I was really stunned by it
I got some additional info and can keep trying, but man I just could not figure out how to get Steam screenshotting bound to my controller today (or actually how it works by default). Supposedly by default, with it enabled, you have to press 2 buttons, not just 1 as I have it set on my PS4. idk
Also, am I an idiot? (probably). Why does Outerra show the day getting shorter in Iceland between Jan 15 and 16th?
-
In order not to deviate from the thread, I added a video comment about the lack of vegetation in Iceland.

There is a change in brightness at 3000m to 7000m altitude...?
-
I don't notice any change in brightness.
https://youtu.be/VFsH2zA6Lss

Ok..now i know why. I modified environment atmosphere parameters. Thx aWac9.
Obviously the changes in this area will not be adjusted.
-
Is an update coming anytime soon? Perhaps some new features (like tunnels) or functionality?
-
knowing outerra it seems highly unlikely there will be any major update before august-september...my guess is it will be even later than that....but who knows...never say never

AMD drivers scare me a lot. However this latest version of Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 21.2.2. fixes support for EEVEE rendering in Blender on Radeon RX 400 and Radeon RX 500 series. so I got encouraged and installed it with my fingers crossed .. ok ,,,, everything went well ,,
this last version of 02/05/2021 ... without problems. ,,, for now

yeah...very quiet....but on discord its even more quiet now ....seems everybody is just waiting for some mayor breakthrough. In my opinion if we had multiplayer it would revive the outerra forum and discord.
but Ok we are used to waiting in outerra...we are either very patient, or very busy with making mods, or enjoying outerra so much (its prefect!) or not caring at all anymore , so that we have nothing to discuss here. =| , ;) , :) , :'(
-
Oh we are still pretty much working on our ghost-planet, for our ghostly purposes.
But I doubt many people are "waiting for a breakthrough", the community of tinkerers and silent world explorers was only ever so big, and there were lots of simmers that now happily went to FS2020. Mind you, this was the market we never tried to compete in, a specific niche with dedicated and demanding customer base, lots of existing companies crowded there and us with our comparatively tiny resources. One probably can't doubt our perseverance, with which we could still attempt it head on, but that would require us to be also reasonably fanatic flight sim fans and not essentially borderline ones.
Our tech demo is still getting updates, but not so frequently because we keep breaking stuff and there's already a problem of backward compatibility with the mods. IMO, a bigger and more active community can probably only arise once we release something for a wider gaming community ...

I think it might be time to put the development tools out into the Outerra community. It's the easiest way to get that bigger and more active community and be able to have that "something" for the wider gaming community.

I might be the bad man here ... am too busy in real life lately as hell, so basically, all my assets are on the ice. ( guess, anyone could just update the code if updates break them - and I put them to absolute free use, so no worry touching them in my absence to your delight ) Be definitely finishing them up, but is complicated to jump in with any proper time investment right now. ... tho, cameni has a point, a lot of stuff is already possible, was back in my last active time. Just getting the creative job done to spice things a bit up is the issue I see.

Yes you're right...a lot of "tools" are available already (the outerra API) and many things have been solved by users ...like character animation...etc..its up to us to use them or instead just wait for something to happen "magically".
About "...all my assets are on the ice. ( guess, anyone could just update the code if updates break them - and I put them to absolute free use..." it would be necessary to have the 3D models files to spice up the animation

You are right::here it is..will definitely try to work with it... i love detailed truck models, especially your ural...with all those modules.
However I don't uderstand what all those cubes are ? makes things quite confusing to handle and visualize. Could they be "removed" ? seems the parts can't be separated from those cubes...what are they and why are they there ? ..........Ah found it..they are "texture space cubes"...now need to find how to disable their viewing "alltogether" in blender.279 ...doing it one by one is a nightmare..as you have thousands meshes there ...probably a way to do it is by joining meshes..which I need to do anyway...

tried to "join" parts...more or less randomly , following intuition...
Some got "lost" during the joining ...as they were pobably generated by some symmetry operations...
hmm...will have to do it again...trying to do it better...quite a daunting task =|
...oh this is the wrong topic for this kind of discussion...sorry

We've been talking about outerra Anteworld for so long that we don't realize the game already exists, at least in its early stages.
We have bought for the price of a pizza, the most powerful planetary engine known, being aware of the enormous effort and talent invested to get here ... Earth8
Cameni tells us what the pulse of the company is, no one knows it better than he, and he talks to us with sincerity, about its limitations and its risks.
Outerra neither wants nor can it compete with large groups, call it Microsoft, Laminar Research, Eagles Dinamics, etc. But that does not mean that it can have its own simulator, in fact we almost have it already.
For now, it is not necessary to simulate complex parts of a simulator, think of radar, various bombs, missions, communications, AI, etc. It is enough for us to fly, to enjoy a simple flight while we marvel at the outerra plane, it would be enough to add the basic operation of clocks, lighting, Ram sartp, no radar or explosions, just enjoy the flight and if we could have reality virtual, then we hallucinated.
Over time, and with a large community, we could aspire to something more complex. I who am a lover of simulators, with outerra, I would be satisfied to be able to make a flight with a route or waypoint from A to B.
You might think that so much space (outerra) would be too huge for most games, although that is not a problem either, you can always detail a more limited space of the terrain. Aerial simulation, as we conceive it in this house, and its narrow niche, is an ideal option, as long as not too much energy is invested in something that can attract many fans or clients if we speak as a company.
A company is not a forum, not even the activity that the same (forum) could have. The forum is simply the meeting place of a community or better between the business of the company and the wishes of its customers.
One thing if we are clear, we cannot afford a mistake, nor have many fronts open, we have to concentrate on the essentials, and be clear about where we are going or where we want to go, which do not always coincide ,,, and that Cameni I think that it is clear to him, despite the fact that many do not read between the lines.
if it is not understood, the person responsible is google

Been a LONG while since I've visited Outerra, good to see the updates still trickling out. I look forwarded to updates in 2021.

20.0.1.13485 (hotfix) (25 Mar 2021)

- fixes for simpler setup of mods, fly77 plugins

Since the new version the datadownload seems slowed down considerably for me. Anybody else having ths issue ?
-
Yes. the initial connection is slow ,, then if you leave outerra and come back in, it does it normally .. I imagine it will depend on many factors, including internet speed ,, and I suppose relativity too ,, since a computer scientist It is more sensitive to speed, and distinguishes between bits and Mbps and can get upset ...., but for the rest of the mortals, we see it quite normal :)

Not sure if its still around, but that would use too much memory in my SSD. I am not really a big outerra explorer.

Unfortunately, the app does not work with Intel integrated graphics cards. They do not have enough power but mainly their OpenGL drivers are buggy and incomplete.
Actually, you should not have gotten through the installer, there's a check if the GPU supports bindless textures (which yours doesn't).

or we are just waiting for Unreal Engine 5 whole planet rendering
Will it ever happen?
Will the transition from space to land happen flawlessly as in OT?
If it happens, you'll need to build from zero the whole world, terrain data input, roads input, objects input, physics input, etc, etc...
From a sim map builder pov, OT is missing some key functions (at least in anteworld, don't know how it is in the devlopper version ), but simple functions like selecting an area to edit (simple example: transforming all asphalt roads in an area into cobblestone roads); being able to modify vegetation (remove or add) directly on screen; terrain texturing using procedurals as in Arma and an editor interface more friendly =D
The big issue (for me) in OT is the Water Render and the weather (visualy).
I follow a one guy engine WiP since few years and what is he doing looks really nice and he does it in Vulkan.
I think his planet engine will be out sooner than the unreal one.

Doubt Outerra is being actively worked on nowadays. Every now and then you'll see some fixes here and there, but that's about it. Might be wrong, but that's the impression that I get.

Ok, so after a visit to a frenchy forum, i think i know why Kameni didn't post any news or updates since a long time, he was busy with the first OT Public Game..at least the OT integration into it:
Mighty Eight.
Do you spot the terrain???? ;)

Is outerra project STOP? So far no releases of major Updates. Love to see available more resolution on elevation terrain inset (5m), tunnel's, Bridges... 🙄. Also would be nice support/compatibility for blender object files. Waiting for good news Outerra. (New version on unreal engine? I wouldn't mind to pay again to get it, that would be awesome... (Sorry my poor English)).
-
no not stopped but as you can see above they seem to be involved in some sort of game development together with microprose.
"New version on unreal engine?" well outerra is an engine by itself.

For those of you that do not follow the outerra discord: here is the (long awaited) news about outerra updates
Zeev: @cameni "Is there a game update in the horizon ?"
cameni: "yes, there will be an announcement soon about it (and our cooperation with MicroProse)"
it says "announcement" so no update yet on the horizon but at least an announcement :))

well when there's always a horizon....

Being myself a kind of "alpha-tester" since 2013, I definitely look forward to a (steam) release.
I hope we get back VR support which was really fun in Outerra. It was my favorite engine back then.
Maybe the basic lighting (compared to modern engines like MSFS) will get an overhaul in the future.

Being myself a kind of "alpha-tester" since 2013, I definitely look forward to a (steam) release.
I hope we get back VR support which was really fun in Outerra. It was my favorite engine back then.

Yes "VR support will be there right from the start" :) (cameni's response on steam's outerra word sandbox comunity hub)

As alpha-tester I have the pleasure to show you another screenshot from the upcoming outerra world sandbox :)

Wait, when did this happen? What sort of timeframe are we looking at?

Funnily Cameni shared the announcement in the discord channel, but not here. Expected to hit Early Access "in coming months".

Hi, are we going to be able to use our username and password to run Outerra on Steam?

Hi, are we going to be able to use our username and password to run Outerra on Steam?
you will be provided with a Key for Outerra world sandbox on steam..you will get that key as described by cameni in discord (see below). I guess you can use that key with whatever steam account you have. Just reclaim your OWS game using the provided steam key.
cameni "I think we will primarily show it inside Anteworld in account settings after you log in
then probably also via the same login on a web page, without having to go through the app
email would be the last resort, there are issues sending emails even now when people request password change"

There is an error when installing this.
-
Assuming it wasn't a problem with disk space, you can try disabling the antivirus, it's known some of them cause issues for the installer. Or perhaps try to re-download the demo.
-
I've tried both, still not working.
-
If your downloaded installer files are getting corrupted for some reason, try the zip file: Anteworld-20.0.1.13485.zip (https://outerraworld.com/appdata/Anteworld/Anteworld-20.0.1.13485.zip)

Nice to see this project is still being worked on! :)

OK mom I'm awake.. Found the GameTrailers video from 7 months ago. I think I missed about most of a Decade of updates.

On the Steam Watchlist as well. I do miss waiting for 3D procedural Trees every week.
Also an April 2023 twitter post about procedural Bridges! Its happening!

Can't wait for it to come out. I wonder how to gain early access ;)

They aren't communicating like they used to. It's been quite dead here on the forum, but they've shown signs of still being active on the Steam forum.
Here's what they wrote on February 7 on Steam.
Unfortunately we still aren't ready for a generally usable public release on Steam. Open issues:
- working AMD OpenGL drivers are not yet available (there are non-public drivers that already work, so it only depends on AMD release cycle now)
- server infrastructure for planetary data download
- VR issues
and a bunch of smaller usability issues. The release date will be set when we get closer to resolving these issues. Obviously we'd like for it to be as soon as possible, but we can't promise any concrete date at the moment, sorry.
For people that come check here because of the B-17 Bloody 100th - even though both projects use the same underlying engine, their releases are completely unrelated.
As well as
It's basically updated Anteworld sandbox game with Steam Workshop support and ability to have game mods. VR already works but requires some tweaking and a better controller integration, but yeah, maybe we'll have it in some alpha testing mode initially.
To be honest, I don't know if we'll ever see another update again. Speaking from experience from other abandonwares, no updates in over 3 years (which was only a hotfix) and lack of communication from the devs doesn't bode well. There may be another update, but don't put too much hope into it.
