There is no freeze anymore with Intel HD4000. But it looks like this: http://s1.directupload.net/images/121203/5jlvqzk3.png

Howdy, I just downloaded the demo and all I get is the black screen and nothing else. Under that black, I do have some buttons and text fields (the mouse changes accordingly) but that is it. I have attached my log below.

Thanks for the help

Please use the development version, newer AMD drivers have bug that causes shader compilation to fail, but there's a workaround for that issue in the dev branch.

Okay, That got me into Outerra and to start flying around, but only for a minute or two before the driver "failed and recovered" leaving me with a white window.

I have attached the eng log below. I understand the AMD are having probs, so this might be part of it still.

Yes there are still some issues on AMD, though we haven't encountered them on 6xxx series for a long time. Does it happen repeatedly to you?

Yeah, unfortunately. I think the longest was after about 5 min of flying about. Once after a 'crash" in game (ran into the ground = white screen), but the others were as I was flying (high or low)

Hmm the only obvious difference is that you have AMD HydraVision there, though it would be quite ironic if that was causing extra crashes:
C:\Program Files (x86)\ATI Technologies\HydraVision\HydraDMH.dll (AMD, AMD HydraVision Desktop Manager), version 4.0.64

I was actually looking at that and thinking of turning it off. Should I?

I checked various devices and services and do not see so far anything wrong on our config...
There seems to be an issue specific to 32-bit version of Windows XP and the amount of memory that can be mapped between CPU and GPU. We seem to be running out of this memory there with our current usage pattern.
Other Windows versions do not have this problem, as they have the limits for non-paged memory much higher than XP32. We are looking at what can be done about it.

Meanwhile, do you have a newer OS somewhere to test with?

I turned off both the 32 and 64 bit versions of HydraDM and tried after closing each....no joy after about a minute of flying (freeze, blackout, then window filled with white...) eng.log attached

We already run OT since months on various Win 7 64b laptops and it is Ok
(of course the laptops are not powerful enough to have a nice experience, they are business laptops, high end but not gaming configs.)

We could upgrade one of our Win XP workstations with Win 7/64, or make a double OS boot...
double boot choice might the route, I just want to make sure that our old Win XP soft do not stop working.

You are using the 12.10 Catalyst driver, right? Might be worth testing it with 12.11 beta drivers, although I have got a feeling that it made our 7850 unstable in turn. But we don't have problems on 6850.

Okay....

Now understand that I am not a techy type, so I need to ask, What does going to a beta version of the driver risk for my system? Is there a way to roll that back if needed?

Betas usually contain some new enhancements that weren't yet thoroughly tested, which may lead to some driver crashes. But that's rare for apps that already work ok.
Usually you can revert back to the previous drivers normally. However, if you aren't comfy with it, just wait for the final drivers, should be out soon.
